I Did It!

Last week, I got to do something that I have always wanted to do. I went to BYU Women's Conference. My sister Bethany and I got to go together and we had a WONDERFUL time. Being surrounded by many thousands of women that are striving to follow the Lord was just a great feeling.

Conversation with Sarger

On the way to play group this morning, Sarger started the conversation like this:" An EGG is an OVAL shape." Mommy's reply was, "I'm amazed at how much knowledge is in that 4 year old head!" He thought for a second as he peered out the car window and then continuing to stare said as if speaking to himself, "I should be in some kind of SMART club." Then he said to me, "Briggs isn't as smart as me, but someday after he dies and is made perfect, he will be BRILLIANT!"

I have never heard him say the word "brilliant" before. It was a sweet conversation and one I want to remember.

Surprise in the barn!

At our house, chickens come and go. We have discovered that they die easily. Mostly because of the coyotes that live in the woods. We have had 3 die hards for a long time now. They seemed to have the secret to survival. Well, a few months ago one of the hens disappeared. We just figured that she was eaten. Daddy went into the barn to find a tool and heard small cheeping sounds and was surprised to find the hen that we lost with 4 baby chicks that had hatched! How exciting! Hopefully these new babies will live long and prosper!

"Durango" By Paige Barron

This painting was a commission that I did for someone that lives in Durango, CO. She wanted a painting of the San Juan mountain range. This was my first attempt at mountains. I like how it turned out. She is happy and excited about it.

Colonel Is Just A Great Big Softy

I find this so cute. Colonel will sometimes lay down and let the baby goats play on him. They run all over him, jump off him or just lay down and lounge with him. I can tell that he likes the babies and think they are cute.

Feeding The Homeless

Quincey and I were invited by the Woolf's to go with them to feed the homeless one Saturday. This is something that I have never done. We were excited to do it. We went to down town Dallas and served food to 500 homeless people. It was such a neat experience. I hope that we get the chance to do it again. This is Jamie, one of Quincey's best friends and Quincey serving behind the counter. I got to hand the trays out. It was neat to serve.

Camping

Daddy took the family camping this spring. We camped at Lake Grapevine, which is about 4 miles from our house. Daddy went down early Friday morning to get a good camp spot. The spot he got was amazing. I hope that we can go there again. We went with two families from our ward. The evening was perfect, with nice weather and it just felt great being outdoors. All went well until we heard the crack of lightning. Yes, at about 2:30, it started to rain. We were unprepared for it. The rain was starting to drip in the tent. Daddy went out into the rain and staked down a huge tarp over out tent and that stopped the rain. But for me, it was too late. I slept on the edge and my bag was wet. With home being 5 minutes away......it was TOO tempting. I asked everyone if they wanted to go home with me. Briggs was my only taker. My bed has never felt so good. =) We went back to the campsite at 7am for some great bacon and eggs with the family and to help clean up. It was fun and made me want to do more camping. I am thinking of planning a camping trip for the fall. Maybe we will spend 3 or 4 nights in Arkansas. They have some mountains there that would be fun to see and hike.

What Do You Want To Be?

Four year old Sarger surprised me when he said that he wanted to be a judge when he grew up. I asked him why and he said because they wear black cloths (one of his favorite colors, black and blue) and they get the bang a big hammer on the table. I thought that was funny. I have no idea how he even knows what a judge is. This kid is thinking.

Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes

Our next door neighbor opened up their bluebonnet field to the neighborhood to take pictures. This is an amazing year for Bluebonnets and I had to enjoy the flowers for a quick family picture.

The bike wash was a popular spot. The kids had their bikes shiny and BRIGHT!

At the bank the kids had to put their bank card in the oatmeal can and roll it to the banker and she gave them the money along with a lollipop for the road. =) And off they went!

BIKE TOWN!

A friend in my ward, Nicole, organized a fun activity for the preschool kids in the ward. She called it "BIKE TOWN". All the kids brought their bikes and she handed out personalized drivers licenses and bank cards for each kids that they had around their necks and had a bank that they could drive through to get pretend money that they could spend at the tuneup shop, the bike wash and the fast food restaurant. The kids LOVED it! Sarger went on and on about how much fun that was. Nicole really went to a lot of work on it and it was a huge success.

I Took A Walk In The Woods

Spring time is so magical to me. The leaves come out and are such a cool color of bright green. I took a walk in the woods behind our house and got some beautiful pictures. I want to do that more often.

Piper Ready For Church

Piper was so pretty this morning. All ready for church. The spring was also pretty , so combine the two and get a cute cute picture.
