Hercules!

For Columbus Day our family went to the zoo. The big attraction of the day was the silverback gorrilla! As you can see in the picture we had quite an experience with seeing the gorilla up close! It was a neat moment. It was inches away from us on the other side of the glass. The care taker told us that this particular gorilla is the oldest known gorilla in the world. In the wild they live to 30-40. This one (Hercules) is 55 years old. It was born in the Dallas Zoo. He also said that Hercules loves children, essecially blonde children. He seemed to love ours. It was a very neat moment!

Kittens!

The newest craze at the Barron home is kittens! A friend of mine knew of some kittens that the owners were wanting to get rid of. Quincey has mentioned that she would like to have a cat before and I thought it would be fun to try. Briggs and I are allergic to cats, so we decided that they will be barn cats. While we were waiting for the kittens to be old enough to leave their Mother, Quincey was a basket case. She called the people often wanting to know when they would be ready. Finally the day arrived and excitement was in the air! The two little girls are as cute as can be! I am glad that we chose to get two because they play together all day and don't ever leave eachother. It has been great having them. One thing that Quincey does that is fun is every time she gets a new pet, their first night in the barn, she sleeps with them. She sets out her sleeping bag and they cuddle together all night long. I am actually amazed with how brave she is to do this. When we brought home Cashmere, our goat, she slept out there through a crazy thunder storm. I worried about her all night thinking that she would be scared. The next morning as she came in, she acted like it was the funnest night ever. We hope that they are happy here!

Rise and shout the Cougars are out!

Our family decided the day before the BYU game in Tulsa, OK that we just couldn't stand not being there! We got an opportunity for some tickets and took off. It was a super fun, one night get away and we had a blast. The game was very high scoring and exciting. In the end BYU lost, but we still had so much fun being there to cheer them on. We returned back to the hotel room by 1 in the morning and the kids (and parents) were wasted. We slept in and then headed home to Flower Mound. It really was a fun time over all. Doing fun things as a family is golden.

Briggs takes a dip

Our family went on an adventure together looking for fossils. Briggs had fun swimming in the river and we found many fun fossils. It was a fun thing to do.
