Father's Day!

I love Father's Day! It is fun to spoil the Father of our home and make his day special. It all started with breakfast in bed. (Notice the time on the clock. I had to get up at 5:30 to do this. He has early morning meetings.) I also made him a special turkey and sweet potato lunch with rassleberry pie and ice cream for dessert. He got new sunglasses and I replaced his watch battery for him. The kids decided that they wanted to give Daddy a "Spa Day", so they dimmed the lights and pounded on his back for a while. He liked it. But the granddaddy of all presents was that I got the drive way resurfaced for him while he was gone on the 50 mile hike. It turned out beautiful and was quite a surprise for him when he got home. He said it was his BEST Fathers Day yet! (Hope every year gets better and better. You deserve it Love.)

Tiny

Piper has had a very fun summer so far. It all started with dance camp and then art camp and then I took her and Sarger to get their pictures taken. That mixed in with lots and lots of swimming. She was so cute to watch dance at her dance camp. She is naturally a graceful person.

HIGH ADVENTURE!

Daddy was able to take the 14-15 year old scouts on the High Adventure this year. They went to Arkansas for a 50 mile backpacking trip! They did not bring anything at all for the boys. They had to carry everything they needed and do all the cooking for themselves. It was a HUGE deal. The trip turned out to be a wonderful experience and a great accomplishment for these boys. They all made the 50 mile trip. The three leaders that went were great and had a wonderful time with the boys. I am so proud of all of them for doing such a hard and thing having fun while doing it. WOW.

Overall She's AWESOME!

Quincey has decided that wearing cut off overalls to camp is WHERE IT'S AT! She has 3 pairs that she cut off, hemmed, and decorated. On this pair she made stars out of paper and then laid them on the overalls and sprayed bleach over them. Leaving stars on the pants. They turned out cute. She also did one with splattered white paint and one with sewed on patches. They all were cute and were all the rage at camp this year. Rock on Q.

Boys Enrichment Night!

The men had an "Enrichment" activity this week. As they announced the activity at church, they called it something like "Fun With Fire." They were going to have contests making fires without matches, make things with a forge (whatever that is) dutch oven cooking and have an ax woodcutting contest. Then they said that it will be held at the Barron's home. This was news to me. With a name like fun with fire, I can see why Daddy "forgot" to tell me it would be at our house. The men all laughed their guts out at my surprise. It was funny. I am happy to say that there was no damage done (my kids kept all their limbs) and the guys had a GREAT time. It was fun to see how excited they were. Cute little fellas.

Boston

With Daddy gone on the Scout High Adventure this week and Quincey gone to Girls Camp, I have had some good time to hang out with Boston alone after the other kids are in bed. Last night I had the neatest conversation with Boston. It really showed me his true colors and I was so proud of what I found. Boston has been in basketball camp at Flower Mound High School this week with some of his friends. One of his very best friends is a boy named Stephan. Stephan lives in Utah and comes every summer to visit his Grandma. Boston and Stephan play together almost every day when he is here. They are best buddies. Stephan does not play basketball at home. His only experience is last summers basketball camp when he came here. He is a total beginner. At the end of basketball camp, they award a new basketball to the kids that are really good or that win games. It is a HUGE honor for the ones that get one. Last year Boston got a ball. As we talked about B-Ball camp, I asked him if he hoped that he would get another ball this year. He said, "I don't really care if I get a ball. I just wish SO bad that Stephan would get a ball." Then he started thinking up all the ways that we will try to help Stephan to win a ball. He was totally thinking of his friend before himself. It was a neat thing for a Mother to see. Boston is a great great boy. I love him and could not be more proud of him. Being good at sports means nothing to me. Being a good friend and good person means everything.

Funny 4 yr old quote of the day:

Sarger after a long day of swimming sits back and says, "I need to retire." (I'm thinkin that swimming at the pool all day, you pretty much already are Sarger. =) )

WHERE did that come from??? =D

PS. This picture is of a fluffy cool caterpillar that he found.

Daddy Daughter Date

Piper was inline for a Daddy/Daughter Date and this is what they did. Daddy took her to Bass Pro shop and they went to look at the stuffed animals. Piper had it in mind that they were looking at stuffed animals, you know, the fluffy, cuddly and warm ones. But what he meant was the kind of stuffed animals that were once alive. I thought it was funny. (I'm pretty sure she wasn't disappointed and had fun anyway.) Then they went to Rita's for some Italian ice and then on a walk around the block to look at fireflies. It was a special night for them both and I am so glad they got to do it.

Final Middle School Concert

Quincey had her last concert for Orchestra in Middle School. It was wonderful. She was first chair violin, which was neat. She also made the JV orchestra in High School next year. She is excited, but the days of first chair are probably over for a while. The Orchestra teacher is in our ward at church which will be neat and the student president is also in our ward. I think Quincey has some great times in Orchestra ahead. Good job Honey! As a Mom I am totally impressed with the kids that are in Orchestra. They seem to get good grades and be high achievers. I am really glad that Quincey is around such neat people.

Temple Grandin!

Boston's big LEAP project this year was a research paper on Temple Grandin. She is probably the most famous person with Autism in the world. She has written many books, she has a doctorate degree, is an inventor and teaches at university in Colorado. It was so neat to study and learn about her. Boston was inspired by the life that she has led and the obstacles that she has overcome. Boston made a power point about her, a research paper, and for his big project, we thought it would be neat to try and contact her. I found her contact information on the internet. We called and talked to her secretary and wrote her an email as well. Soon she was calling our house and talking to Boston on the phone. He was able to interview her on the phone and ask her any questions that he had about her life. He also corresponded through email and found out her favorite snack to share with the kids after the presentation. It turned out so good and I was very proud of the job that he did.

Sarger n Me

I took Sarger to the local fountains to play with a bunch of his friends. It was a great time and we finished it off with some "Rita's" Italian ice. I love being with Sarger. He is a super fun kid and I am glad he is my youngest child. I love you Buddy.

Saved From The Chopping Block

Just as I was about to capture the two ducks and drop them off at the lake, what do you know, baby ducks were born and all of the family falls in love with them. This duck has been sneaky about getting into the pool area and I am fed up with it. She had these ducklings about three weeks ago and the good news is, she no longer goes into the pool area. I am starting to warm up to her and her new babies. Her life has been spared...........for now.

Quincey's BIG Night!

As a Middle School graduation gift Daddy and I took Quincey out on a big date! We went out to eat at a chinese buffet with sushi and pretty much anything else you would want. During dessert we gave Quincey a present and I told her that I had found her something really neat at a garage sale that morning. (Hehehehe!) It was fun to see her surprise when she opened up a CELL PHONE! She has been begging for this for years now. It was a big surprise. Then after dinner we took her to see "Wicked" in Dallas. It was a super fun night and it was fun to be able give this to Quincey. She is a sweet daughter and amazing girl. I love you Honey.

Before and AFTER!

Daddy and the boys rebuilt the screened-in room! Yay! it needed it so badly and it turned out so wonderful. I am excited to have such a pretty screened-in room now and will get to enjoy it. Thanks for doing a GOOD job guys! It was fun to see how hard Boston and Sarger worked. They enjoy working with Daddy.

The Garden

I was proved wrong on this one. Quincey and Daddy planted a garden this spring. I did not have a lot of faith that things would grow because there were so many leaves in the soil that were not decomposed. I have been proven wrong because we have gotten a lot of of this garden. Strawberries, green beans (tons), tomatoes, broccoli, peas, squash and soon corn. I'm amazed! Good job you guys!

Our MOVIE PREMIERE!!!

Our family made a movie called, 'The Trickster Strikes Again!". We invited our best friends over for a movie premiere. We had popcorn, soda's and candy and had so much fun watching the movie. It was even the first time to see it for some of the actors. It was a fun family activity and will be a treasure to keep about something our family did. You know what, it was a BLAST!
