Quincey Went to the Temple

Quincey went to the Dallas Temple this morning with the youth. She came home happy and wanting to tell me all about it. Towards the end of our conversation she said that there was a bride there getting married and that she was so pretty. Then she chuckled and said, "The groom looked funny though." "He was wearing a BOW TIE." This seemed very normal to me, I was thinking, "of course" and I asked, 'Was it a weird bow tie, like crazy colors or something?" No, just a bow tie. My reply was, "Daddy wore a bow tie when we got married." Then she said with a serious voice as she left the room, "Ya, but you lived in the bow tie age.
It surprises me every time when I realize that my kids think that I am old and that it was ages and ages ago when we were young, in college and getting married. It is so funny. I loved that, "The BOW TIE age!" =)

Grandma Gives The Best Gifts!

Grandma aways gives the kids the perfect gifts for them. Piper received this tea set that you can paint on and then cure it in the oven so that the paint is sealed and you can eat and drink with them. She painted all day on Christmas and then next day to finish her set. She wanted a farm theme with animals and a garden. I wanted to post these pictures because I think they turned out SO cute. Thanks Grandma!!!!

Snow Time!

After the presents were all opened and breakfast was served, the kids all rushed out to play in the snow before it started to melt. Daddy pulled them on the kneeboard with the lawnmower. It was a sight that made me chuckle. =) They had a great time.

Christmas Morn.....

The final bomb.......fun times. =)

Go Team Taggart!!!!

This present CRACKED me up!!! Quincey is really into the Twilight series, not surprising, I know. Well, I have had a hard time getting into it. I read the first book and that is all. (Quincey thinks I'm a lame-O.) Quincey and I had a conversation a few months ago and I told Quincey that I was on "Team Jacob" because he was the cuter of the two in the movies. She thought this was just WRONG because she is on "Team Edward" because in the books he is WAY better. Well, I then came up with what I thought was a GREAT idea! "Honey, I want a "Team Taggart" t-shirt!" I just thought that would be the BOMB. ; ) Anyway, I had forgotten this whole conversation until I opened THIS on Christmas morning!!!! One of my most FAVORITE presents EVER!!!!!! =) =) =) Cute Honey!!!!

The Unveiling!!!!!!

This is the Barron Family T-Shirt for 2009!!!!! I continue to love our family shirts. =) It is SO fun to design them and surprise the family with the new design for the year. They LOVED this one. No Goats.....No Glory!!!!

My Favorite Gift to give to My Husband.....

I was excited to give this painting to my man this year. It was a surprise for him that I worked on the months before Christmas. It is entitled,"Hand In Hand", by you know who. =) I wanted it to capture the love that we have for each other. I feel so blessed to have such a neat relationship with my husband. I attribute it to his ability to overlook my imperfections and love me anyway. ( I can be a little booger at times.=) ) Love, I love you so much. THANK YOU for loving me too.

I love teasing Boston.............=)

Confessions.....I have a reputation for getting the kids new shoes that are too big. These are my excuses. 1. I don't know their sizes and have to make a guess. Better too big then too small, right? and 2. My frugalness takes over and I figure that they can wear them longer if them have a little more growing room, right? This is a big joke in the family. Especially with Boston (Who's feet grow DAILY!) Anyway, I played a good joke on Bossy this year. I placed this note on the package before he opened the shoes. (Read that.) They are a men's size 18 shoe! I got the best laugh as he opened the shoes. I live for his crazy reactions. The kid has a great sense of humor. Anyway, there is more to the story. These shoes are not just big, they are FAMOUS too! They once belonged to a Dallas Cowboy linebacker named Aaron Gibson. He holds the record for the largest NFL player in the history of the NFL. He weighed 440 in High School. He was a giant! Now Boston owns a pair of his shoes. (Wonder of he will ever fill them????) =) Merry Christmas Boston!!!!

Santa Came!!!

The kids loved their gifts. Boston asked for one thing this year- a unicycle! Piper got moon shoes, a skip-it and a pogo stick. Briggs got a bike. Sarger got a marble maze block set. And Quincey got a keyboard. These are the things that Santa brought!

Christmas Morning at the Barron's House.

Nothing compares to Christmas. The feeling of magic and excitement that is in the air. I just love it. I know that it all stems from Jesus Christ. We are celebrating the birth of the Son of God. The whole world knows it deep in their hearts. Even if they do not realize it. But I realize it and I am so very thankful. It is the very best time of year.

BINGO!!!!!

Something fun that we do that is a Barron Family tradition is to play BINGO on Christmas Eve. We buy prizes and the winners get to choose a prize or steal one that someone else got. It is always a good time.

Animal Lover

Quincey was cute. After dinner, she prepared a sweet treat for the animals. Sliced apples for the donkey and goats and ham for the cat. She wanted them to feel the spirit of Christmas too.

Christmas Eve Dinner

We have our big dinner for Christmas on Christmas Eve. The traditional ham, potato casserole, green bean casserole, rolls with pie and ice cream. I also started a new tradition that was fun. I gave each person four tiny glasses with four different drinks in them. Different flavors of sparkling cider and hot chocolate. It was a hit. =)

And it didn't stop!

It snowed all day, enough that there was a white blanket on the ground. The kids were able to play outside, throwing snow balls and build an itty bitty snowman. =)

It all started with a little Texas SURPRISE!

It began to SNOW. A rare treat for Texas and even more rare for CHRISTMAS EVE!!! It snowed all day Christmas Eve. It was just magical as we were all home together, enjoying the spirit of Christmas. The shopping is done, we are ready! Fire in the fireplace, putting a puzzle together and listening to Christmas music, it was perfect. =)

A Wonderful Night

It was fun to see how our neighborhood loves the nativity. This was the first year that people came to us before we mentioned it, asking us if we were doing it and asking how they could help. We had one family donate an amazing sign for the front of the neighborhood and many many families brought cookies. It is fun to come together to honor the birth of our Savior. It was wonderful.

Silent Night, Holy Night......

Each actor in the Nativity was wonderful this year. The spirit was so strong throughout the tour.

Living Nativity 2009

The Live Nativity this year turned out wonderful. With all the stress that it brings, we still LOVE it! Each year it gets better and more people are able to feel the true spirit of Christmas. This was the first year that Piper was an actor. She played a shepherd. I told her that she could do it as long as she was happy. If she got sad, or cold, then she was to be done. Well, I was so proud of her because she lasted the whole night (14 tours) and was happy the entire time. She did great with the other shepherds who were all teenagers. It was neat to see her take on such a task.
